All about Freeways

Freeways provides care and support to adults with learning disabilities. The organisation was established as a registered charity in 1987 and currently provides a diverse range of services to people. Freeways currently operates 14 residential homes and 5 supported living homes and can support or provide access to day services, education and employment, including the provision of own learning and support centre.
Freeways also provides a hydrotherapy pool, additional supporting therapies and outreach services.

Freeways is funded principally by charging a fee for its services, and works in close partnership with many local authorities, the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), a range of health professionals and families, carers and friends of service users where possible.

Freeways strives to provide person centred services, with positive and individualised outcomes for each service user our primary aim. This means seeing each person as a unique individual with aspirations and opinions as to how they would like to be supported to live a healthy, balanced and fulfilled life. For some this might mean increased independence whilst for others it might mean maintaining skills, networks and opportunities.

Service users are also encouraged and supported to express their views and become as involved as they wish to be in ensuring that individual homes and services are planned and managed in ways which places a primary emphasis on their wishes and needs. This is achieved by attracting, developing, supporting and retaining a workforce that is qualified, skilled and committed to these objectives and principles.

To support the service users, staff teams and managers of each service, Freeways operates a head office (Leigh Court) from where senior managers and administration staff can plan and co-ordinate our operations. Also situated at the Leigh Court site is a day centre and a hydrotherapy pool
