Friends of Freeways

Who are we?

The “Friends of Freeways” are a group of mainly, parents, relatives and friends of those in residential care, of the “Freeways Trust”.

We were set up ten years ago, as a separate charity to:

1. Provide support to the staff and residents of “Freeways”.

2. To provide support and friendship to each other.

Traditionally this has taken the form of giving gifts to each house for the benefit of all the residents who decide what it is to be; whether a BBQ, garden furniture, theatre visits or more recently a digital camera.

More recently the “Friends” have also given a music centre to Leigh Court and a grant to set up the Freeways website.

Why a separate Charity?

From experience over the years and shown more recently, it is more effective when we act collectively and speak as one voice. This approach is more helpful to “Freeways” and therefore our relatives in their care.

So we earnestly invite you to join us and help to carry on giving this support.
Currently the annual subscription is £10 and as a registered charity we are able to claim a rebate under the Gift Aid scheme if you are a taxpayer.

It also helps to maximise our small income if you paid by standing order.

News

There have been a number of changes both in the Freeway Trust and in the Friends of Freeways during 2004. As far as 2005 goes it looks a promising year. We have the launch of the website, the establishment of house representatives and hope the formation of a Bristol group.
